In addition to helping adults and families, I help people recover from grief. Grief recovery differs greatly from Grief and Loss counseling. In grief recovery, loss is seen more broadly than just the loss of a loved one. Grief is viewed as the loss of love. To recover from grief then, is to return to love without the pain associated with the loss. Whether the loss be the loss of a job, a marriage, a loved one through death, or any of the other 43 types of loss one can experience in their lifetime.
My approach as a therapist, is to value and respect that both client and therapist are unique human beings. After all, I like you, am someone trying to make my way through this world. I know that at times life can be very hard, that relationships can be challenging and that, too often (and sometimes too easily), we can feel dissatisfied, frustrated and unrewarded. I believe it to be important to bring understanding to what we are feel, why we are feeling it and what, if anything, might need to be done or not done.
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
— Dr. Seuss
