Relate and Connect

I am aware that deciding to speak with a therapist is frequently a difficult one for many. if not most,  people to make.  Frankly, it should be a difficult decision.  Isn't that why you have visited this site?  To gather some information before you make a difficult choice?  Therefore, I hope to provide you with information about me so that you can make an informed choice whether you work with me or with someone else.  So, I will give you some general principles that guide my work; some specifics about my approach and a little about me personally.

First of all I have been practicing in Fullerton, California for over 11 years.  Since this work is a second career for me, I believe I bring a "real world" perspective to my practice.  Perhaps influenced by my previous experiences in the business world, I am always mindful that I am providing a service to those with whom I work, my clients.  I am always aware, that my clients have "hired" me; I haven't "hired" my clients.  Therefore, I work for you, not the other way around.

I believe that, as human beings, our relationships with significant others, are singly the most important factor in determining how we function in the world and in how we feel about ourselves.  If your relationships are going badly, then that condition is going to show up in your life in some fashion, sooner or later.  In some way, be it work, our daily commute, our teenager that speaks to you in grunts or your partner, everything we involve ourselves with is a relationship.  Central to my work is helping you make sense of the relationships in your life.  When our relationships are healthy, so are we.

I assume that the clients who make the courageous decision to enter therapy desire some change in their lives.  I attempt to help them realize the change they seek.  In so doing, I believe getting as thorough history as possible is important to my providing you the service you deserve.  However, that doesn't mean spending days, weeks or months talking endlessly about the past.  The past is important in learning about how it has influenced the present.  But, it is the present within which we all live our lives.  And it is in the present that we often desire change.

So, this is a very brief and general description of my work and who I am.  If you are interested in learning more about how I might be able to help with specific concerns you might have, I invite you to use the form below to contact me or to call.  My voice mail is available 24/7.  If you like, you can mention visiting this site and receive a free 1/2 hour consultation.
